The head of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture said: “This year, the Rural Cooperative Organization will not have a program to purchase saffron from farmers on behalf of the government, but will continue its supportive and protective actions for farmers.”
According to Eghtesad Online, quoting IRNA, Dr. Aghamiri, at the official opening ceremony of an international public joint-stock company described as the largest saffron organization in Iran, added: “It is better for this work to be done by local cooperatives.”
However, he emphasized the supervisory and supportive role of the Ministry of Jihad Agriculture, stating: “Such organizations, which are formed by and for farmers, are approved by us, and it would be better for them to handle all matters, including the purchase and sale of products themselves.”
