Forecast of Purchasing 5.8 Million Tons of Wheat from Farmers / Sixfold Increase in Contract Farming of Irrigated Wheat

Sohrab Sohrabi referred to the measures taken, including the provision and supply of chemical fertilizers, and added: “This year, we have prepared and supplied more than 3.2 million tons of various subsidized chemical fertilizers, and the prepared consignments have been distributed among the country’s farmers. Additionally, he stated: ‘We have also prepared and supplied labeled improved wheat seeds, with 320,000 tons of seeds suitable for both irrigated and rain-fed lands being distributed among farmers, which is 100,000 tons more than the previous year.’ Sohrabi continued: ‘The total area of contracted irrigated wheat farming in the country was 250,000 hectares, and this year it has reached 1.55 million hectares.’ He also mentioned that ‘This year, the area of irrigated wheat cultivation in Iran is 1.99 million hectares, and the area of rain-fed wheat cultivation is 3.96 million hectares, making the total area of irrigated and rain-fed wheat cultivation in Iran 5.95 million hectares.’

Dehghani Firouzabadi considered productive and knowledge-based parks as a model suitable for meeting society’s needs through technology, innovation, and private sector participation, and continued: ‘These parks are to be established and operated based on a people-centered economy and originating from the people. For knowledge-based and technology companies, mentors, raw materials, inputs, and other elements of the agricultural technology and innovation ecosystem have been considered.’ He emphasized: ‘Overall, a complete and economic model aimed at meeting the people’s needs must be created in all priority areas across the country. The proper form and method of a knowledge-based economy must be implemented in a suitable model to encourage the private sector and the people to engage in this field.’

He continued: ‘We are striving to establish this modeling and implement this process so that other people and sectors are encouraged to enter this field and participate.’

Deputy of Trade Development, Ministry of Agriculture: Announcement of the Method for Sending Priority Allocation of Foreign Currency for Agricultural Goods to the Central Bank

The Deputy of Trade Development, Ministry of Agriculture, based on the foreign exchange policies communicated by the Central Bank of Iran and the responsibility of the bank in preparing and aligning the country’s comprehensive foreign trade map, has taken action to send the priority of allocation and provision of foreign currency for agricultural goods (according to the relevant authority) to the Central Bank of Iran based on the following provisions.

1. Systematic call and receipt of statistical registration certificate information separately from the Central Bank for order registration
2. Receiving customs declaration information (KOTAZ) from the Comprehensive Trade System
3. In case of matching the information of the above two clauses based on the date of the customs declaration, the relevant goods will be subject to the authority’s opinion sent to the Central Bank.

Note: Commodity prioritization, after completing the information in clause 3, will be summarized and sent based on market exigencies and the country’s needs.

For allocated goods, including pesticides, chemical fertilizers, seeds, vaccines, and veterinary drugs, prioritization will be based on the written declaration of the relevant specialized authority and will be exempt from the provisions of clauses 1 and 2.
Sending the authority’s opinion will consider increasing market competitiveness, diversifying import sources and importers of essential goods, and preventing monopolies.
Strategic reserves provision in the form of the Purchase Council according to the relevant directive and outside the provisions of this directive will be addressed.
Acting Minister of Agriculture announced: The need to compile an Agricultural Products Statistical Yearbook at the Ministry of Agriculture

The Acting Minister of Agriculture stated: ‘The problems in the agricultural sector must be addressed in a jihadist and on-the-ground manner.’ Aghamiri, emphasizing that the Agricultural Products Statistical Yearbook should be compiled at the Ministry of Agriculture, said: ‘The exact production volume of all agricultural products must be accessible, and provincial heads should be more active in this regard.’ He continued: ‘We must utilize knowledge-based companies in agricultural production to achieve significant growth in this sector.’ The Acting Minister of Agriculture, emphasizing that the Agricultural Bank belongs to the agricultural sector, said: ‘All subsidiaries in the agricultural sector must have financial transactions in this bank.’
